-에서 is a Korean grammar particle that can have different meanings depending on the context. It is attached to a noun or a noun phrase.

-에서 as preposition "in", "at" (place).
In this context -에서 is used only with action verbs. For non-action verbs and adjectives such as 있다, 없다, 많다, 적다 use -에.
